About Us

Want to know what we do? Here's a great little three-minute video which shows the ground-breaking work we do at the Cavalier Centre

What We Do

Led by its incredible team of over 200 volunteers, the Cavalier Centre is a fully accessible state of the art equestrian facility located just outside Much Wenlock, in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The centre offers inclusive horse-based activities such as riding, carriage driving, vaulting (gymnastics on horseback), hippotherapy (physio on horseback) and horse care, all supported by volunteers and team members. It also has a range of other programmes and activities that help people develop life skills, emotional intelligence and wellbeing.

We can't do it without our volunteers

The Cavalier Centre's volunteers are the engine that drives the machine! Our dedicated and happy army of volunteers keeps the Centre running smoothly and are the people that work with our participants and ponies. It's a truly rewarding thing to do and the community created by our volunteers is amazing.
Lives Touched
I often describe the Cavalier Centre as my “happy place” so if you’d like to spend time with ponies and make a real difference to someone else’s life then do give it a go. It could become your happy place too!

Imagination is Your Limitation: Life is a journey that takes us to unexpected places. Horses for me have been an integral part of this, I hope this story encourages even one person to believe anything is possible whatever your situation - dream big and just go for it.
I have found volunteering at the Cavalier Centre very enjoyable, there is so much time spent with the horses and the staff are all extremely helpful and lovely. I have learnt a lot during my time here and learned so much more and so much more than I could have learnt from a textbook.
'My favourite Pony is Archie, because he is cheeky'.

The Cavalier Centre very much relies upon the support of volunteers but, speaking as a volunteer, I cannot put into words how rewarding I find the time that I spend there is. Becoming a volunteer there has been a decision that I do not regret for one minute and I hope to continue my work there for many years to come.

‘I love all the horses at the Cavalier Centre but my stand out favourite is Freddie as he is the one that I ride and have a really good bond with, he is a gentle giant.’
Charlotte
It’s good that the Steps programme is here because it gives people who are struggling and who have challenges a chance to grow in confidence, build communication, work as a team and have fun.

'Favourite moment? - every time a rider gets 'something' no matter what - to see it click is the best feeling.'
